Geldert-Murphey Joins Lochmueller Group as IL/MO Regional Director

April 12, 2019

Lochmueller Group is pleased to announce that Marsia (“Marsie”) Geldert-Murphey, PE, F. ASCE has joined Lochmueller Group as the Regional Director for our combined Illinois and Missouri operations, markets that are currently served by our offices in Troy, Illinois; Champaign, Illinois; St. Louis, Missouri; and St. Charles County, Missouri. She will work with Illinois Regional Office Leader Brian Mueller, PE and Missouri Regional Office Leader Scott J. Smith, PE to coordinate activities related to client management and business development.

“Marsia will identify new business lines and opportunities, improve market penetration, and promote the growth of our firm. She is a fantastic addition to our team and we are very excited about what the future holds.”

– Doug Shatto, PE, PTOE, Chief Operating Officer

She will also serve as a client manager and project liaison for DOTs, county governments, municipalities, MPOs, transit agencies, sewer districts, private entities, utilities, and energy providers. Marsia will also be a staff mentor and technical resource for QA/QC and geotechnical engineering.

Marsia earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from South Dakota State University and Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Missouri Science & Technology. She is a registered Professional Engineer in Arizona, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Texas, and Wyoming.

Her exemplary career started with the Illinois DOT in Collinsville, Illinois, where she focused on construction and geotechnical engineering.  Marsia entered private practice and soon became vice president of SCI Engineering, Inc. and the first female partner of the firm.  Later, she co‑founded the 100% women-owned Kaskaskia Engineering Group.  Through her hard work, acquisitions, and company development, the firm grew from two employees to 45 in five years.  After selling her interest in Kaskaskia – and a brief sabbatical – she opened Sequoia Engineering & Environmental, Inc. where she served as president and CEO until the firm was acquired in 2016.  Prior to joining Lochmueller Group, Marsia served as the Chief Operating Officer for the 100% women-owned roofing contracting firm Jim Taylor Roofing.

W. James Taylor COO Marisia Geldert-Murphey as she testifies on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. Wednesday, April 25th, 2018 before the House Small Business Committee for the hearing titled “American Infrastructure and the Small Business Perspective”, in 2360 Rayburn.

Marsia is a Director for the St. Louis chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction and represents Region 7 on the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Board of Direction. In April 2018, she testified before the United States Congress’ Committee on Small Business, providing perspective on the nation’s infrastructure.

Always up for a challenge both professionally and personally, Marsia has competed in a Tough Mudder competition and – just three weeks later – ran in the Chicago marathon.
