The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) selected Lochmueller Group to receive the 2014 IDOT Consultant’s Exceptional Service Award in the rural highway category for its work on the Interstate 57 and Interstate 70 reconstruction project.
Lochmueller provided phased engineering services for the rehabilitation of 7.7 miles of roadway at the interchange in Effingham, Ill. The work included rehabilitation of the tri-level interchange, adding a lane in each direction, reconstructing eight bridges, and designing three new bridges and a new bicycle and pedestrian bridge.
IDOT District 7 nominated Lochmueller for the award on the $162.8 million project based on several criteria, including that costs came in under budget, the project was on time, and for clear and concise design plans and reports.
“This was a major and complex project for Lochmueller Group and I’m very proud of what we delivered to IDOT and the people of Illinois,” said Regional Manager Jason Watters, PE. “To be recognized like this is icing on the cake.”
