Looking out from downtown Mt. Vernon, Indiana to the Ohio River, the view was long obscured by a pair of old silos. But today, it’s home a 350-person amphitheater that accommodates a philharmonic orchestra, picnic areas, a splash park, and serves as a trailhead.
The project was designed to be the base trailhead for a 1-mile trail that will eventually link to Brittlebank Park. The trail is delineated throughout the riverfront layout with a gray slate finish with white-banded edges and a red centerline delineation.
In addition, a new development adjacent to the riverfront now offers 46 senior apartments and 6 condos with commercial/retail space on the ground floor. Lochmueller Group provided all site design and construction inspection for both portions of this dramatic transformation.
