Lochmueller Group prepared final structure plans for removal and replacement of this single span structure carrying US 50 over Lackey Creek. The replacement structure is a 12- x 7-foot, triple-cell, cast-in-place reinforced concrete box culvert with cast-in-place wingwalls.
Due to the poor condition of the existing structure, the 48-foot replacement structure was constructed on a shifted alignment to facilitate staged construction. US 50 was relocated approximately 28 feet to the north, resulting in 1,070 feet of approach roadway work. The project included foundation treatment for the culvert by removing and replacing unsuitable materials with a rock fill foundation.
