Chris Schultz & Michael Vereb Promoted to Department Directors

Along with the entire company, Lochmueller’s Transportation Division has grown significantly over the past few years and now represents approximately 84 employee-owners! To ensure adequate support for our transportation teams, we have decided to separate the division into two independent departments: Roadway/Highway Design (60 personnel) and Bridge/Structural Design (24 personnel).

With that change in structure, we are excited to announce the promotion of Chris Schultz, PE, to Assistant Vice President and Director of Roadway & Highway Design and Michael Vereb, PE, to Director of Structural Engineering! We believe that this new organizational structure will provide more opportunities for mentorship, including a higher level of support and monitoring to promote staff development through the departments. Additionally, there will continue to be a high level of interaction between the two departments along with all other services Lochmueller offers.

Chris Schultz, PE

Chris brings 21 years of multidiscipline roadway and highway project delivery experience, project management, operations, and staff management to his role. His diverse background includes managing and overseeing both local and state DOT projects, such as roundabouts, added travel lanes, new roadway alignments, and interchange design projects.

As Assistant Vice President and Director of Roadway & Highway Design, Chris will be responsible for leading and managing all activities of the service line. He will work to ensure operational excellence, resource management, and lead the team of professionals in the design and development of roadway and highway projects across our company footprint.

“I’m excited for the opportunity and look forward to continuing my career here at Lochmueller,” Chris said. “I look forward to leading this great team of roadway design professionals and upholding the values in the services we provide. I would like to recognize my mentors, coworkers, and clients I have worked with along the way for the guidance they have provided throughout my career.”

Michael Vereb, PE

Michael brings 23 years of industry experience with a focus on structural engineering, roadway, highway, and railroad bridge design, bridge inspection, and project management, operations, and continuous improvement. Prior to graduation from Purdue University, he participated in the co-op program where he gained experience with forensic structural investigations applying several non-destructive testing methods, building and bridge inspection, and materials testing.

As Director of Structural Engineering, Michael will be responsible for leading and managing all activities of the service line. He will work to ensure operational excellence, resource management, and lead the team of professionals in the design and development of structural and bridge design projects across our company footprint.

“I am truly honored and humbled by this appointment,” Michael said. “I look forward to the challenges this position will bring and to the learning opportunities it presents. I am forever indebted to my mentors, coworkers, clients, industry peers, and professors who have taught me so much and helped me along my path.”

We have great confidence in Chris and Michael’s leadership capabilities and look forward to watching them succeed as department leaders!
