Today, Marsia Geldert-Murphey, PE, Lochmueller Group’s Regional Director of Missouri & Illinois Operations, was officially inducted as the new American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) President at the annual ASCE 2023 Convention in Chicago! She succeeds previous President Maria Lehman, GHD’s Director of US Infrastructure.
ASCE was founded in 1852 and represents more than 150,000 members of the civil engineering profession in 177 countries. Marsia has been actively involved in the organization for 33 years, serving in leadership roles since 2006. Whilst President, Marsia will serve a one-year term (2023-2024) as the chief representative and spokesperson for ASCE; in addition, she will chair the Board of Direction and Executive Committee, as well as assist in motivating and educating members.
“Lochmueller Group is very excited to have Marsia Geldert-Murphey installed as the new President of ASCE, not only for her but also for the company. During her tenure as President, Marsia will continue representing Lochmueller. In fact, this position will give her the opportunity to shine a brighter light on Lochmueller Group and will promote greater awareness of our brand and our place in the engineering community.
“Marsia has demonstrated a tireless devotion to ASCE throughout her career and has advocated on their behalf as long as I’ve known her. She and other members of dedicated teams working at the national level will continue to advance advocacy for our profession and diversify membership.”
In accordance with our CARDIA values, we love to celebrate our co-owners’ achievements. To commemorate Marsia’s newest achievement, Lochmueller Group hosted a reception on Wednesday evening in conjunction with the ASCE Convention! Several co-owners, family members, and friends turned out for the momentous occasion. Governor J.B. Pritzker even shared a congratulatory message on behalf of the state of Illinois.
We couldn’t be prouder of Marsia, and we can’t wait to see all that she accomplishes throughout her term!
