Schaefer Recognized as ITE Young Leader to Follow for 2021

Lochmueller Group’s very own Kelly Schaefer, PE, PTOE has been recognized as an Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Young Leader to Follow for 2021! This inaugural class is comprised of 20 transportation professionals under 35 years old who have demonstrated leadership and innovation within the transportation industry and ITE.

“I am so thrilled and honored to be one of the 20 young professionals ITE named a Young Leader to Follow,” Kelly says. “These peers have fascinating skills, ambition, and leadership; I am eager to learn from and grow with them. I also hope to elevate Lochmueller and the traffic group’s profile within ITE’s leadership and international membership with this opportunity. Oh the places we’ll go!”

Kelly has been a longtime volunteer with the TEAM Chapter that is now the Gateway Section of ITE, and she joined the board of directors in 2019. She served on the Local Arrangements Committee for the Join Missouri Valley District of ITE (MOVITE) and Midwestern District Meeting held in St. Louis, Missouri. In the past year, Kelly helped with the elevation of her Chapter to a Section by helping to write their policy manual and creating an officer’s manual to help guide board members in their roles. She was also the recipient of MOVITE’s 2020 Young Transportation Professional of the Year award.

The best is yet to come for Kelly, and we look forward to watching her continued growth as a Lochmueller Group team member!
