Indiana University Medical Campus

Lochmueller provided site/civil engineering for a new campus covering nearly six blocks in Downtown Evansville under a partnership between Indiana University, the University of Evansville, the University of Southern Indiana, and Ivy Tech Community College. The new Downtown site is walkable for students and offers easy access to area hospitals where students do training. Services included the following:

• Design and permitting of all roadways that bisected the six-block campus
• Civil engineering of pedestrian walkways and plazas on building sites
• Overall site grading with balanced earthwork required
• Stormwater drainage development, utilizing underground stormwater storage units to capture all stormwater, with the goal of reducing overloading of the combined sewer system and treatment plant loading
• Civil site design of parking areas and complete streets with dedicated bicycle/pedestrian walkways
• Complete replacement of all water and sewer mains within the project area
• Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (Rule 5) development and permitting
• Preparation of technical specifications to be used in the bid documents
• Construction administration
• Project closeout
