Lochmueller provided the survey needed to convert an existing membrane cells in the brine membrane cell area of a plastic manufacturing facility. The brine membrane cell section is a highly restricted area within the facility and requires specialized safety training and personal safety equipment for access.
The survey phase for this project consisted of establishing horizontal and vertical control with ties to State Plane coordinates as well as to a “Local Plant” coordinate system and to the NAVD88 vertical datum along with the stake out of geotechnical soil borings.
This project was atypical in that the brine membrane cells were not shut down for the project but rather continued their 24-hour operation cycle requiring close coordination between plant personnel, survey crews, and geotechnical investigation personnel for safety and efficiency purposes.
