This was a slide correction project where previously placed road fill had become saturated with recent rainfall events and slid down the existing slope. The project involved the re-creation of the typical road section, pavement design, underdrain and subsurface drainage treatments of the aggregate backfill benches, pavement markings, temporary and permanent erosion control treatments, and coordination with a locally-owned water line utility that was damaged during the roadway slide failure. Survey tasks for this project consisted of topographic data collection, establishing horizontal and vertical control, re-establishing existing road centerline alignment and right-of-way limits, underground utility investigation, and stakeout of geotechnical soil borings.
