Steve Coates Promoted to Illinois Regional Leader

Steve Coates, PE, has recently been promoted to Illinois Regional Manager! Steve has 36 years of professional experience, 34 of which in consulting engineering and nearly 3 years with Lochmueller Group. Throughout his career, Steve has specialized in transportation planning and design with a minor emphasis on stormwater hydraulics and hydrology; worked on over 15 large NEPA documents for MoDOT, IDOT, and KDOT, as well as several NEPA documents for the Tennessee Valley Authority; prepared several SWPPP documents for Ameren Corporation; and participated in field inspection activities on numerous transmission line and substation projects.

In his new role, Steve’s responsibilities include:

• Administering day-to-day management of staff in our Troy & Belleville offices

• Assisting the Missouri Regional Leader and the Missouri/Illinois Regional Director in developing and executing strategies to win work

• Working to develop new Illinois client relationships, managing existing client relationships, and participating in networking and other client development activities to further our business initiatives

• Coordinating with technical managers to ensure staff has sufficient work

• Working collaboratively with other regional leaders, sales, marketing, senior leadership, and technical staff

• Approve expenditures, review, and manage the Illinois region’s discretionary budget.

Outside of work, Steve enjoys traveling, hiking, single malt scotch, astronomy, and working in his yard. Steve has been married to his wife Lorri for 34 years and has two grown daughters Emily and Kate!
