Evansville State Hospital Site Improvements

Location:
Evansville, Indiana
Client:
Architect
Service Line:
Urban Design

This project involved the development of a new psychiatric hospital on unimproved land within the existing Evansville State Hospital grounds.

This project consisted of the development of a large portion of the overall 132-acre site. The design of the new facility which included building sites, an internal roadway system, parking facilities, and recreational area, was challenging because of the required coordination with the three additional members of the design team as well as the owner who had very specific needs. The project also proved challenging in that it required the new facilities to function well with the existing facilities adjacent to the new. Another challenge for this project was the funding constraints which required several modifications to the plans in order to meet the needs of the hospital while being financially feasible.
