The planned improvements to US 68/KY 80 spanned approximately 17 miles from KY 94 to the Cadiz Bypass. This involved crossing a number of environmentally-sensitive areas including Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley, as well as through Kenlake State Resort Park and Land Between the Lakes.
As part of the Environmental Assessment, Lochmueller served as the subconsultant responsible for completing aquatic and terrestrial baseline studies and the hazardous materials baseline study. Subsequently, Lochmueller conducted a cumulative impact assessment on threatened and endangered species as well as other wildlife within the Land Between the Lakes portion of the project area to address revised alignments through this section. Mitigation was proposed to lessen any potential impacts to listed species in the areas of potential habitat. Control of invasive species was also addressed.
Since the completion of this study, Lochmueller has also completed permitting and mitigation efforts for Land Between the Lakes.
